uhmm ... speed of sound = 340 (roughly) m/s ... broken by a great many ships, even my hoarder.
speed of light = 300,000,000 m/s speed of warp = 3au/s = 450,000,000,000 m/s (1500 times the speed of light)
However, in support of some engine placement etc. If you look at engine placement, it would pretty much work out that the thrust, overall, is focussed on the centre of mass of the ships.
Finally ... it's a game, who cares about the laws of physics? Just log back in and enjoy yourselves!
(edit -> spelling )
First i said, that some ships do not fly as fast as sound, which is true since some ships don't travel at ~ 330 m/s.
And about warping ... as you know, travelling as fast as light is impossible, as your mass will be infinite and the force needed to accelerate you further will be infinite too.
The theory it that you fold the space so that your destination finally becomes the same point as your starting point. So, in theory, you don't travel the way to your destination but take a shortcut. So actually, you don't move faster than light.
A good example would be a piece of paper. The shortest way from one end of the paper to the other end is a straight line. But if you fold the paper both ends are next to each other so the shortest way is only a few Ám.
(your right. aprox 1500c is the corect speed (i was too tierd when i did my calculations)) they do not use the wormholes as described abouve. bicause then it would take no time to gett there (like jumping), and you would not get the doppler-effect (things get blue in front of you and red behind). when warping, one more likely just shrinc spacetime betwen you and your destination.so it becomes closer, or move spasetime itself where your ship is situated. there is no rule about how fast spacetime can move. (that would also explane the bug where your engens are down when warping (no glows)). it could also explane why the stars do not senter to one point in front of your ship as they appear to do when flying att close to c. =A= Live Long and Prosper =A= |
